In Memory of Bob Schellstede
Services were held Wednesday, May 10, 2000 at 2:00pm at the First United Methodist Church in Roswell, New Mexico. The Rev. Winston Presnall of the First Presbyterian Church and Steve Chappel of the First United Methodist Church officiated. Bob was laid to rest at South Park Cemetery and the Roswell Veterans Honor Guard conducted Military Graveside Services.
Bob was born January 29, 1944, in Tulsa Oklahoma, to John Schellstede and Eloise J. Rees Schellstede. His father preceded him in death. Bob was a graduate of West Texas State University in Canyon, Texas, where he played football.
In 1971, Bob began his career with the Boy Scouts in Dallas, Texas. Later he transferred to Ft. Worth, Texas, and to San Antonio, Texas, before serving 13 years in Roswell as the Boy Scout Executive. He was recognized nationally for his many achievements in Scouting.
He was a member of the First United Methodist Church and he was very active in the community. He was a member of Roswell Rotary, Reach 2000, Partners in Education, United Way and numerous other educational and youth related organizations. He also was executive director of the International Styrofoam Ice Chest Lid Museum in Picacho, New Mexico.
Bob was an avid sportsman. He enjoyed hunting and fishing and attending local school athletic events. Also, Bob was the wagon boss for the world famous Circle Diamond Chuckwagon. He was an accomplished Chuck Wagon cook and had won numerous awards. He especially loved to complete at the annual Lincoln County Symposium. He enjoyed life to the fullest, and especially his Wednesday Coffee Club and meeting with his Fridays group.
He is survived by his mother, Eloise Schellstede of Langley, Oklahoma; sons, David Schellstede and Doug Schellstede of Roswell, and their mother, Trudy Schellstede of Roswell; and his brother, Richard Schellstede. He is also survived by his faithful hunting dog, Duke.
Pallbearers include Phelps Anderson, Jess Sheets, Larry Stiles, Dean Lollar, Dour Kriewald, Burl Wood, Earl Wood, Mark Allen.

Anderson, Dennis Shaeffer, Dick Austin.
Arrangements were under the direction of Ballard Funeral Home.
Bob passed away on Saturday, May 6, 2000 in Houston, Texas.
We will miss him greatly!
